He beat the #3 player and fellow Argentine, Guillermo Coria, who developed a leg cramp in the fourth set but played on. Coria had won 37 of his last 38 clay-court matches, with the one loss coming to #1-ranked Roger Federer a few weeks ago, and was the favorite coming into the tournament. Gaudio’s ranking jumped 34 spots to #10!
